Vitamins


Vitamins are nutrients that your body need to function and fight off diseases.

It is an organic compound and a vital nutrient that an organism need in limited amounts.
An organic chemical compound is called a vitamin when the organisms can not synthesise the 
compound in sufficient amount,and it must be obtained through diet.
There are 13 vitamins essential to your body.
Vitamins can divided to two types depending on their solubility.

  •  Fat  Soluble Vitamins
  •  Water Soluble Vitamins

Fat Soluble Vitamins 

  • Stored in your fat cells consequently requiring fats in Oder to absorb. 
  • Vitamin A- comes from Orange colour fruits and Vegetables ; Dark Leafy Greens, Inside the body produced from beta carotene, and niacin, from the amino acid tryptophan
  • Vitamin D- fortified milk and dairy products; cereals, synthesised in the skin with the help of the natural ultraviolet wavelength of sunlight.
  • Vitamin E- fortified cereals, Leafy green vegetables; seeds; Nuts.
  • Vitamin K-Dark Green Leafy Vegetables ;beet greens, microorganisms in the intestine


Water Soluble Vitamins

  • Not Stored in your body, therefore they need to be replenished daily.
  • Vitamin B1(Thaimin) - Whole grains; enriched grains, Liver ; nuts, seeds.
  • Vitamin B2(Riboflavin) -Whole grains; enriched grains.Dairy Products.
  • Vitamin B3 (Niacin) - Meat, fish, Whole grains, Poultry.
  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) -  Meat, fish, Whole grains, Poultry
  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxin) - fortified cereals, soy products.
  • Vitamin B7 (Biotin) - Fruits, Meat, microorganisms in the intestine
  • Vitamin B9 (folic Acid/Folate) - Leafy Vegetables.
  • Vitamin B12- Meats, Fruits, Dairy Products.


  • Vitamin C - Citrus Fruits and Juices; Grape fruits; Red ,Yellow & Green Peppers

Vitamins are used in many ways inside your body. They do not directly serve as source of energy.
They do helps The Enzymes that generate energy from Nutrients Such as Carbohydrates & Fats.
